House Rule: Discipline/Attribute/Abilities/Influence Purchases

Because this is a 24/7 game, progression pacing is very very important when it comes to how quickly a character rises in power. We all want to have our dream sheets, but the truth is when you get that dream sheet... now what do you do? What goals do you have? Getting too powerful too quickly can lead to stagnation, hence there are "waiting periods" between when xp can be spent on aspects of your sheet.
You may purchase one dot of a discipline once a month.
You can purchase an in-clan discipline with XP alone. There's no need for rolls unless the discipline is Necromancy or Thaumaturgy.
In order to learn an out of clan discipline, the character must find someone willing to teach them the level of the discipline they'd like. Not only that, but the teacher must have one dot in the discipline above the dot that the student would like to learn. Ex. Lottie must have "Telepathy" in order to teach Marcellette the Auspex ability "Spirit's Touch."
Once a teacher is found, the player then rolls to practice the ability after submitting a Downtime Action to begin the process.
When beginning to learn an out of clan discipline it immediately counts as your spend for the month rather than at the end of your rolls.
Thaumaturgy, Necromancy and their various rituals are not innate in the blood like core disciplines, but instead it is indicated that they are learned via study and practice. In this it has been determined that each dot of any path or ritual progression must be rolled for much like out of clan disciplines.
When beginning to learn a dot of Thaumaturgy or Necromancy it immediately counts as your spend for the month rather than at the end of your rolls.
*Note: Rituals do not count as your discipline spend each month. They have their own time table in which you may purchase a single ritual every month in addition to your discipline spend.
This one is a much bigger timeline. You may purchase one dot in an attribute stat once every six months (you must be in play on your character for six months before making your first request for an attribute increase). The reason the timeline on this is so great is because attribute stats apply to ALL rolls in the game. They are coupled with multiple abilities and are the core of what your character is capable of, hence they are more difficult to acquire and pacing is very important.
Abilities (like influences) can be acquired via the Downtime Actions successes, but unlike Influences you will still need to buy the dot with XP once you have completed your successes.
In order to begin the process of your countdown you must notify the Staff via the Downtime Actions system when your character begins learning an ability as well as how they are learning it. Each week that passes you just update in your Downtime Actions your character's progress on the action.
Please see the Downtime Actions thread for details on increasing these stats.
